Sarah Schumann closely witnessed the illness of her partner Silvia Bovenschen throughout her life. The last years together and the numerous visits to the doctor are encapsualted in the two series In the Waiting Room. When the Tears Still Helped (2012) and When the Day Began Red the Transformation of Doctor Procto (2014). These paintings are shadowy drawings in variations of violet and red on narrow panels.
